Michael Heffernan and Aisling Browne joined forces in September 2014 to create a sound that both felt a need to adhere to. After meeting in Dublin's Temple Lane Studios where Michael is Head Engineer, the two had worked on various projects together. During these sessions the pair soon realised that their interest, taste and overall vision were almost identical so they decided to join forces. With no intent on a chosen genre or direction, “Cut Once” went aimlessly in to the recording studio and blindly recorded what then became the foundation of their sound.
What came out of this is a sound and style both instantly intoxicating and innovative. From the sinister electronic stylings of "Institution" to the gentler and tender "Colour Blue", Cut Once create a rich and layered musical landscape.
Being Head Engineer of Temple Lane Studios Michael has worked with some prestigious acts such as Gavin Friday, Dave Ball (Soft Cell) and The Script in which he spent four months recording their latest album “No Sound Without Silence”. He has also assisted recording sessions with established artists and producers such as Morrissey, Tony Visconti, Swedish House Mafia, Howie B and more. With his technical background, his desire for achieving interesting sounds and his love of ever evolving technology is what drives him to produce electronic music.
